A 320 ml mug with a handle pulled by hand from a lug of wet clay rather than cast and stuck on. A pulled handle tapers where a cast one does not, and it sits differently in the hand — you can feel the difference immediately, and it is the only reason a mug costs thirty-four dollars.
The wall is thick enough to hold heat through a slow coffee, and the rim is rounded and slightly thickened, which is what stops a stoneware mug feeling coarse to drink from.
Unlike the glassware, this is genuinely hot-safe: high-fired stoneware handles boiling water without complaint, and it is the piece in the catalog for tea.

Care
- Dishwasher-safe. Load so the handle is not knocking against anything.
- Microwave-safe. No metal in body or glaze.
- Safe with boiling water straight from the kettle.
- Tea and coffee will stain a matte glaze slightly over years; bicarbonate of soda on a damp cloth lifts it.
Cautions
- Not for the freezer, the broiler, or a direct flame.
- Do not pour boiling water into a mug that has just come out of a cold cupboard in a cold room — warm it with hot tap water first.
- The handle is the vulnerable point. Do not hang mugs from hooks by the handle.
